Information you enter into calculators

Our calculators ask for details such as distances, prices, income and fuel costs so they can produce an estimate. These calculations run in your browser (client-side). The values you enter are used on your own device to display a result and are not sent to or stored on our servers by the calculators themselves.

Cookies

The core calculators do not require cookies to work. If we add features in future that rely on cookies — for example, remembering preferences, measuring traffic, or serving adverts — we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent through a cookie banner.

Analytics

We do not currently use third-party analytics or tracking cookies. If we introduce privacy-respecting analytics in future to understand which pages are useful, we will update this policy to name the provider and describe what is collected, how long it is kept, and how to opt out where applicable.

Advertising

We do not currently display third-party adverts. If we add advertising in future — for example, through Google AdSense to help fund the site — we will update this policy to explain what data advertising partners may process, including any use of cookies or similar technologies, and how you can manage your preferences.

Postcode lookup

The School Distance Calculator has an optional Look up button that converts a UK postcode you type into a latitude and longitude. To do this, your browser sends just that postcode to postcodes.io, a free open-data service operated by Ideal Postcodes. No other information about you is sent. If you would rather not use the lookup, enter the latitude and longitude directly — the calculator works either way.

Contact form

When you use our contact form, it opens an email in your own mail app, pre-filled with the details you entered, so you can send it to us. The information is therefore handled by your email provider and by us when we receive your message; we use it solely to respond to your enquiry. The form does not store your details on this website.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights over personal data we hold about you, such as the right to access or delete it. Because the calculators do not transmit your inputs to us, we typically hold very little personal data. If you have a question about your data, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows, particularly when adding analytics or advertising. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
